----It is time for the 5th Annual Jazz-a-que!! It will be held on Saturday, May 7th at 6 PM in the Lansing Middle School commons. The cost of $15 covers an amazing BBQ dinner served by members of the LHS band and entertainment by the high school and middle school jazz bands. All profits go to the Lansing Band Program. See Mr. Johnson or any high school jazz band member for tickets (sales will be through this week).----

----Attention Guitar Players! The marching band is looking for a killer guitar player who can play the guitar solos from Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody for our show next fall. We need to find out if we have anyone in our school who might be able to do this ASAP! If you or someone you know is interested, please come see Mr. Johnson in the band room by Friday, 4/15 for more details----
----The LHS Jazz Band will be in concert on Monday, Feb. 28th at 7:00 PM in the Lansing District Auditorium. Also performing will be the Lansing Middle School Jazz Band.----
----Have you ever felt getting even with a teacher? Stop by the table at lunch and put money into the jar for the teacher you want to see get a pie in the face this Friday at the pep rally. You can also buy a raffle ticket for $1 and be the lucky one to shove the pie in the winning teacher's face. ----
----Next Thursday, Feb. 3 is "Bowling For Band" at Skyway Lanes. Time is 9-11pm and profits go towards Lansing's Band Boosters! Cost is $10. Hope to see you there!! ----

----On Friday, January 14th, Lansing High School's First Annual Alumni Pep Band will play at the game! If you have EVER played in the LHS Band, you are invited to attend and participate. Call time will be 5 pm, in the band room for a brief rehearsal. First, contact Mr. Johnson at to let him know that you'll be there. If you need an instrument contact him as soon as possible, because instruments will be lent out on a first come, first serve basis. Be sure to practice a little before the big day!! See you then!---

----Mr. Johnson was the winner of the No Shave November Contest. Thank you for all the contestants who volunteered to participate.----
----The LHS Symphonic Band will host their December concert this coming Monday, Dec. 13 at 7:00pm in the Lansing District Auditorium. We are featuring the Sunflower Brass Quintet, a KC area group that will blow you away! We will also have a Percussion Ensemble selection which I know everyone will enjoy! Come celebrate the Holidays with us and hear some great music!----
----LHS Winterguard is a competitive precision dance team utilizing choreography with flags, rifles, sabers, and different props for a floor routine. This year's winter guard will have an informational meeting Tuesday, 11/23 at 3:00 PM in the band room for all students interested. The meeting will include the practice schedule, competition dates, and fundraising events. Contact Coach Guy Gardner for any further details and questions.----
----Congrats to Kyle Hyde who auditioned for and made the NEKMEA District Honor Band (this district includes all of the KC, Topeka, and Lawrence schools) on Bassoon. Kyle will participate in the honor band on Dec. 4, and then have the opportunity to audition for the State-wide KMEA Honor Band in January.----
----Java Jazz is Monday, November 1st from 6:30-8:00 PM in the LHS commons. Bring money for food and drinks and enjoy the music of our amazing Jazz Band.----
----Band students who ordered cookie dough need to plan on picking it up Wednesday, 10/27, after school. Please plan on picking up BEFORE 4:30pm. ----
----Congratulations to the LHS Marching Lions for their "1" rating at the Central States Marching Festival!-----
